AdCampus attends The Radio Festival
The Radio Festival boosted some impressive events and was a fantastic chance for networking and meeting potential sponsors and advertisers. We also met up with Skillset and they are welcoming views from student radio stations for their radio strategy.
We're looking at a way to possibly involve student radio and see if it's a possibility that there can be some recognition for the skills that you build whilst working there. Please check it out at www.skillset.org/radio/strategy
We also met plenty of supporters for student radio at the Foot in the Door event and if any of you are looking to boost up your work experience in radio, please don't hesitate to contact us. There was a fantastic presentation by Andy Parfitt (BBC) and Alison Winter (RadioCentre) about how young people are still listening to radio, which is great for promoting student radio. Their research also showed that the teen and youth audience want the following from radio: to be understood and taken seriously, not stereotyped, aspirational role models, global quality, information and guidance, mucking about - fun, and a mix of analogue/linear and on demand radio. They also show that they are untrusting of mainstream media which is why student radio is a fantastic way of bringing in listeners.
